Artist Statement: "When we hold someone in our gaze, we each carry tremendous power to communicate, albeit subtly, our recognition of the other person's unique value. Working almost exclusively from life, I am aware of the high privilege of being allowed to study someone intensely and of being given the liberty to interpret what I see and discern. Even when a mere hint of the individual's inner sanctum is revealed and captured in the painting, the experience is at once sacred and deeply moving. Amongst captivating subject matters, the human form remains the centre of my focus and is ever for me both astonishing and endlessly fascinating."
